We'd like to thank State Rep. Joan Bauer and her co-sponsors for making Old U.S. 27 A Historically Designate road in the State of Michigan
I am proud to have sponsored a House Resolution to declare Old US-27 as a historic road in the State of Michigan in recognition of the historic econom ic and social benefits to the State of Michigan. All states along Old US-27 are being asked to declare the route as a historic road and the House appr oved a resolution to make such a designation in Michigan. For many years, O ld US-27 was the major north/south road connecting Michigan to Florida, running from Cheboygan to Miami. Old US-27 travels through many towns, villages, and cities in our state and promotion of the nearly 308 mile route can result in increased traffic and tourism, much like what was occurred with Route 66. This issue was brought to me by Michigan citizen Craig Parrish who deserves special recognition for his relentless support of and advocacy for this designation.
